Locarno and its surroundings

About fourteen thousand people live in the city of Locarno, the capital city of the district with the same name in the canton of Ticino. Because of the warm and even climate, the vegetation in Locarno and its surroundings is very characteristic of the South. So much sun is good for the mind! This relaxed atmosphere offers relaxation for long and short days.

The range of cultural events and historical sites is very large in Locarno and its surroundings. The popular place of pilgrimage Madonna del Sasso in Orselina is immediately above Locarno and is offered for a day trip. If you prefer to enjoy the wonderfully pleasant climate in Locarno itself, then you can stroll through the wide Piazza Grande or visit the Castello Visconteo originating from the 12th century.
